Institutional datasheet

Egypt is a North African jurisdiction whose official export credit agency is the Export Credit Guarantee Company of Egypt (EGE). This datasheet records EGE's mandate and products, its Berne Union listing, FATF list posture and register evidence limits.

Official export credit: EGE

EGE states that it was founded in 1992 to facilitate Egypt's development in foreign trade and the private sector, providing services and support to exporters and assisting them in managing, protecting and financing receivables. EGE describes itself as the official export credit agency of Egypt and states that it follows the regulations of the Financial Regulatory Authority of Egypt.

Published strategic objectives include supporting national interest in trade by guaranteeing export receivables, supporting expansion of the Egyptian industrial base by covering imports of strategic and capital goods for industrialisation, and supporting financial inclusion through SME-focused guarantee products. EGE also states that the government provides access to additional hybrid capital in the form of subordinated Export Development Bonds fully subscribed by the National Investment Bank, with outstanding Export Development Bonds of EGP 50 million forming part of its capital base, and frames its service coverage at more than 200 countries.

Products and Berne Union listing

EGE's published product families include trade credit guarantee cover, financial inclusion guarantees for factoring, leasing, microfinance and consumer finance institutions, bank guarantee products and investment guarantees, alongside collection services for overdue international receivables. These map to export credit guarantee and political risk insurance style tools as framed by EGE. The Berne Union member directory lists the Export Credit Guarantee Company of Egypt.

FATF and sanctions list posture

Egypt does not appear on the FATF increased monitoring or call for action lists as reproduced in HM Treasury's June 2026 Money Laundering Advisory Notice. List status is an AML assessment outcome, not a sanctions designation. UN, EU, UK or US programmes can still designate Egyptian persons or entities, so sanctions screening against the applicable consolidated lists remains party-based and precedes credit-file reliance. This datasheet does not inventory Egypt-related designations.

Company and beneficial-ownership register notes

Company formation and investment services in Egypt are administered through the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI). A public beneficial-ownership register with open extracts is not described in the EGE, Berne Union or GAFI sources used for this datasheet, so beneficial-ownership public-access posture for Egypt is recorded as an open item pending citation of the competent authority pages.

Summary

Institutional mapping for Egypt centres on EGE's stated mandate as the official export credit agency under Financial Regulatory Authority regulation, its guarantee and insurance product families, and its Berne Union listing. Register and designation detail rests on primary Egyptian official publications, which this datasheet does not reproduce.
