Institutional datasheet

Norway is a Nordic jurisdiction whose official export credit agency is Export Finance Norway (Eksfin). This datasheet records Eksfin's merged mandate, Norway's open company-register model and FATF list posture.

Official export credit: Eksfin

Eksfin publishes that Export Finance Norway is the result of a merger between the former government agencies GIEK (the Norwegian Export Credit Guarantee Agency) and Export Credit Norway, operational from 1 July 2021. The Berne Union member directory lists Export Finance Norway. Eksfin's English pages present financing and guarantee solutions for Norwegian export needs across liquidity support (working capital, construction loan and production loan guarantees), investment financing in Norway, purchase financing including buyer credit and ship financing for Norwegian goods and services, contract guarantees, and risk mitigation including letter of credit support, pre-delivery guarantees, bond insurance and political risk guarantees that map to political risk insurance categories.

Industry framing highlights maritime, fisheries and aquaculture, renewable energy, banking and finance and other industries; Eksfin's pages also cite 49 billion NOK, about EUR 4.3 billion, in new guarantees with reference to a more diversified portfolio. Norway participates in the OECD Arrangement, and Arrangement disciplines frame official medium and long-term support where they apply.

FATF and sanctions list posture

Norway does not appear on the FATF increased monitoring or call for action lists as reproduced in HM Treasury's June 2026 Money Laundering Advisory Notice. List status is an AML assessment outcome, not a sanctions designation. Norway implements United Nations Security Council sanctions under Norwegian law, and Norwegian designation detail rests on primary Norwegian official publications. Sanctions screening against the applicable consolidated lists remains party-based and precedes credit-file reliance.

Company and beneficial-ownership register notes

The Bronnoysund Register Centre is Norway's official register authority for organisations. Its datasets and API page states that most datasets are available through APIs supporting both simple and complex searches and complete downloads, with named categories including data about organisations, roles, signature rights, Nordic businesses and data on beneficial owners. The datasets follow the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD) and registration is not required to use them. Norway is therefore among the clearer official open-data company-register jurisdictions for entity existence checks, while entitlement and privacy limits for person-level fields, including UBO detail, follow Norwegian law and Bronnoysund terms. Official open-data access does not remove sanctions or AML screening obligations on Norwegian counterparties.

Summary

Institutional mapping for Norway centres on Eksfin as the merged official export finance and guarantee institution, Berne Union membership, absence from the FATF public lists as reproduced by HM Treasury, and Bronnoysund open register data under NLOD for company identity, with person-level access limits following Norwegian law.
