Institutional datasheet

Hungary is an EU and OECD member jurisdiction whose official export credit agency capacity is delivered by EXIM Hungary, the integrated framework of Hungarian Export-Import Bank Plc (Eximbank) and Hungarian Export Credit Insurance Plc (MEHIB). This datasheet records the combined financing and insurance mandate, Hungary's reported Arrangement activity, FATF list posture and company information pointers.

Official export credit: EXIM Hungary

EXIM Hungary states that it is the official export credit agency of Hungary, specialised in international trade, foreign market expansion and foreign investment, and that it also operates domestic credit programmes. It is the joint entity of two legal persons, the state-owned Eximbank and MEHIB, operating within an integrated framework that provides both financing and insurance facilities, and states that its instruments have helped bring Hungarian products or services to nearly 150 countries.

The Berne Union member profile records that Eximbank and MEHIB serve Hungarian exporters through financing and insurance facilities, perform Hungary's export credit agency tasks under the legislative frameworks of the OECD and the EU, and operate with a shared organisation and corporate identity under the name EXIM. Facilities listed include buyer credit insurance, supplier credit discounting insurance, manufacturing risk insurance and investment insurance. Ownership is recorded as Hungarian State 100 percent, and both organisations were founded in 1994.

Arrangement reporting

The European Commission's review under Regulation (EU) No 1233/2011 lists Hungary among the twenty Member States that provided officially supported export credits in 2022, among the thirteen that also provided official financing support, and among the small number reporting tied aid. Medium and long-term official support is framed by OECD Arrangement disciplines applicable to the EU Participant, including minimum premium rules linked to the OECD country risk classification where those rules apply. Whether Eximbank acts as lender or refinancer and whether MEHIB insurance attaches to the same transaction are transaction-level facts recorded in the facility documentation.

FATF and sanctions list posture

Hungary does not appear on the FATF increased monitoring or call for action lists as reproduced in HM Treasury's June 2026 Money Laundering Advisory Notice. List status is an AML assessment outcome, not a sanctions designation. EU, UN and UK financial sanctions can still designate Hungarian persons or entities, so sanctions screening against the applicable consolidated lists remains party-based and precedes credit-file reliance.

Company and beneficial-ownership register notes

Hungary's Company Information Service publishes free electronic company information through the e-cegjegyzek portal, which is the institutional company-register pointer used in this datasheet. Beneficial-ownership public-access rules, including any legitimate-interest restriction under EU AML law as transposed in Hungary, are not described in the sources cited here and are recorded as an open item pending citation of the competent authority pages.

Summary

Institutional mapping for Hungary centres on the EXIM framework combining Eximbank lending with MEHIB insurance under full state ownership, Hungary's reported Arrangement-scope activity including official financing support and tied aid, absence from the FATF public lists as reproduced by HM Treasury, and free electronic company information through the official register service.
