Institutional datasheet

India is a large emerging market jurisdiction for bank export finance and project finance desks assessing country risk and official Indian insurance and policy lending capacity. This datasheet records jurisdiction identity, ECGC Limited and the Export-Import Bank of India, FATF membership, Arrangement posture as published by Participants, and register evidence limits.

Jurisdiction identity

India is a federal republic. Cross-border bank desks typically separate official export credit insurance (ECGC) from Exim Bank of India policy financing when mapping official support. Corporate registration sits with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and related registries; only facts confirmed on the sources cited below are stated here.

Official export credit: ECGC and Exim Bank of India

ECGC Limited was incorporated in 1957 under the Companies Act, 1956, to facilitate and strengthen India's exports by insuring the credit risk faced by Indian exporters and by banks lending to exporters. The Berne Union member profile states that the company is 100 percent owned by the Government of India and is managed by a Board of Directors comprising nominees of the Government of India, the Reserve Bank of India, commercial banks, insurance companies and persons from the exporting community. Published facilities include export credit insurance to exporters and to banks, overseas investment insurance and factoring. In bank usage ECGC is India's principal official credit insurance export credit agency.

The Export-Import Bank of India describes itself as India's premier financial institution engaged in financing, facilitating and promoting the country's industrialisation efforts. Published programme headings include lines of credit, buyer's credit, pre-shipment and post-shipment credit, guarantees and letters of credit, overseas investment finance and MSME export support including export factoring. Exim Bank of India is distinct from ECGC: one is a financing institution, the other an official credit insurer.

OECD Arrangement posture

EXIM has published the Participants to the OECD Arrangement as the United States, Australia, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Türkiye and the United Kingdom. India is not included in that Participants list, so official Indian medium and long-term support sits outside the Arrangement Participant set as published in that source.

FATF and sanctions list posture

India is a FATF member. Membership denotes participation in AML and counter-terrorist financing standard setting; evaluation outcomes are published by FATF separately. India does not appear on the FATF increased monitoring or call for action lists as reproduced in HM Treasury's June 2026 Money Laundering Advisory Notice.

India implements United Nations Security Council sanctions under domestic law. A single consolidated English official page for autonomous Indian designations comparable to OFAC's is not among the sources cited here, so autonomous Indian list detail is recorded as an open item. Sanctions screening against primary Indian official publications, UN lists and applicable home-jurisdiction lists precedes credit-file reliance.

Company and beneficial-ownership register notes

Indian companies file with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs systems. Public-access rules for beneficial ownership, including which fields are open to the general public, are not described in the Berne Union, Exim Bank of India or FATF sources used for this datasheet, so beneficial-ownership public-access posture for India is recorded as an open item.

Summary

Institutional mapping for India centres on ECGC as official credit insurer, Exim Bank of India as official trade and project financing capacity, FATF membership, and non-Participant status under the Arrangement Participants list published by EXIM. Register and autonomous sanctions detail rests on primary Indian official publications, which this datasheet does not reproduce.
